There are a lot of great speciality food products available these days. Every January, the Good Food Awards highlights that fact. In 2013, there were over 1,350 submissions, an increase of 40% over the prior year with 114 winners. And this year, they received 1,450 entries hailing from all 50 states.
This event honors the best sustainable, artisan products including condiments, chocolate, beer, coffee and charcuterie.
And annually in Oakland is the vibrant Eat Real Festival, a social venture created to inspire eaters to choose tasty, healthy, good food. This year three day festival takes place on September 19-21 in Jack London Square.
Aside from these events, there seems to be something new on display at the farmers market or grocery store with each visit. I plan to weed through this dizzying array of products and share with you my favorites offering taste, quality and value.
