Great finds are often discovered in unexpected places, a notion that Hawaii native Zane Chess and partner Jeffrey Konen brought to life in late 2022 with the opening of Gilligans Poke Shop at the long dormant deli counter inside Sausalito Market.
The fisherman and boat captain revived the sandwich section in vintage Hawaiian style with fish netting, driftwood signs, faux wood paneling and nautical accents.
Brown or white rice are the base of made-to-order limu, spicy or shoyu yellowfin ahi poke bowls, a straightforward and authentic preparation sans embellishment. Rice is purchased ala carte and the fish comes by the pound.
